Your best self and everything that you think is needed for an adventure like this. Many fishing lodges are located in remote areas, so before departing, make sure you get all the necessary information from your host. Be aware of the weight limitations on your flight though!
FAQ category: Work exchange
How long can I stay?
It is entirely up to your host and your visa if you are in a country where it is needed. However there is always a minimum stay required. The minimum stay is the host’s decision and it’s non-negotiable. No fishing lodge would want to have a volunteer for 3 days only.
Can I go with my friends or family?
This depends on your host. However your subscription is for one individual, we do not have joint accounts at this moment, so people in your company should sign up too.
Do I need a visa?
Depending on your home country and your destination country you might need a tourist visa. Please get in touch with the embassy of your destination country or just simply search the web. A work exchange is a volunteer program therefore a work permit and a work visa are not necessary.
Do I have to take my own gear?
Ask your host, please. Most fishing lodges and resorts have fishing gear or have gear for rent and are happy for you to use it.
Where will I sleep and what will I eat?
Your host is going to answer this question. Normally it’s a shared or single staff room and staff meals.
Do I get paid for my work in a work exchange program?
Nope. Work exchange is voluntary. You work 4-5 hours a day for board and lodging. Like this you are good to go with a tourist visa if needed.
